Longhorns Beat Irish in 2OT Thriller to Begin the Season

The college football season had a pretty nice slate of games on Saturday. But hands down the game of the week, and perhaps the entire season, happened on Sunday when the Texas Longhorns and Notre Dame Fighting Irish gave us a double-overtime battle for the ages.

Texas defeated Notre Dame, 50-47 in 2OT, with the winning score coming from Tyrone Swoopes diving across the goal line for the score.

The game was a thriller throughout, with the intensity multiplying late in the fourth quarter and during the first and second overtimes. This also included a bizarre play where the Texas Longhorns went ahead by two, then had their extra point attempt blocked and returned for a two-point score for Notre Dame. Texas went from a clutch game-changing score to take the lead, only to have it wiped away in a manner of seconds, and effectively have a new game begin, as there was very little time left in regulation.
