Sharks’ Win Chomps Away at Penguins Lead

The Sharks came into San Jose behind two games, and looking to fend off the dreaded 0-3 deficit. 24 year old Joonas Donskoi wouldn’t let that happen. Over halfway through overtime, he ripped one past Matt Murray to bring the Sharks one game closer to evening the series.

Pens v. Sharks Game 3

When Sharks fans came to the SAP Center for the first finals match up in the team’s history, they were greeted by a somewhat familiar face. Marshawn Lynch came outfitted with his own customized jersey, with his signature “24”, and Social Delta quickly picked up: the fans LOVED it.

Even though Lynch made an appearance, the real action was on the ice. After a crazy light show, the arena was rocking! The Penguins were having none of it, and after about 5 minutes, Lovejoy silenced the rowdy San Jose crowd with a shot that whizzed past goaltender Martin Jones.

The Sharks had fallen far behind before, and couldn’t come back and win the game. After going down, they really needed a goal if they wanted to stay in it. Justin Braun answered that call to duty in the same period. Social Delta captured the elated fan’s responses.

Although a close game is exciting, some were upset about the lack of penalties called during this series. Sharks and Pens alike got a little chippy, and the fans definitely noticed.

The score remained that way until late into the second. Patric Hornqvist, otherwise known as “horny” to Penguin fans, deflected a shot from Matta to put the Penguins ahead. Any time the Penguins score, there is a lot of buzz on social media from their fans, but when Hornqvist scores, they post some of the most ridiculous pictures and memes.

Behind one goal, the Sharks headed into the locker room. They were beaten in shots, but were playing as physical as they needed, almost tripling the 12 hits the Penguins recorded after two periods. If you count blocked shots, the Sharks were ahead in that department as well. They needed to keep up this intensity. After going a man up on a double minor, Joel Ward tied the game with a 40 ft slapshot. It seemed that the game was going to head to overtime, and Social Delta saw everyone’s anxiety, and possibly diagnosed some heart plantations.

After more than 10 minutes of thrilling OT hockey, the Sharks sealed the win with a goal from Joonas Donskoi, helping him recieve the first star of the game
