Syracuse Has No Regard for Your Bracket

The Final Four is now set. Just as everyone 0.009% of the brackets predicted, the four teams remaining are #1-seed North Carolina, #2-seed Oklahoma, #2-seed Villanova… and #10-seed Syracuse.

While the North Carolina Tar Heels took care of business in the East region (the only #1-seed to do so), Villanova took out overall #1 Kansas en route to claiming the South region final, and Buddy Hield and the Oklahoma Sooners crushed #1-seed Oregon to win the West. However, the biggest surprise run of the tournament has been the Syracuse Orange.

The Orange looked as though their hopes would be cut short in the Elite 8 battle against the Virginia Cavaliers. But their stifling defense locked up and allowed coach Jim Boeheim and the Orange to go on a 25-4 run to finish the game, and defeat Virginia 68-62.

“It was a whole team effort and these guys really deserve it,” Boeheim said. “We beat a great basketball team. I’ve never been prouder in all my 40 years as coach of a basketball team as I am of this team tonight.”

There was not a shortage of reactions to Syracuse’s improbable comeback against Virginia on Twitter, from fans to analysts to former players. Here are some of them, captured by Social Delta:
